The city of São Paulo expanded, this Tuesday (12), the application of the second booster dose against Covid-19 for people aged 35 to 39.
To receive the immunizer, it is necessary to have received the third dose (1st booster dose) for at least four months. According to the city hall of São Paulo, the orientation is that the immunizing agents from AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Janssen are made available.
Last week, the Municipal Health Department sent a letter to the Ministry of Health so that it could anticipate vaccination in this public. Also according to the secretary, the city has enough doses to start vaccination.
In a note, the Ministry of Health said that so far it recommends the second booster dose for people over 40 years old.
“It is worth noting that the Technical Advisory Board on Immunizations maintains discussions regarding changes and expansions of the vaccination schedule for new groups. After approval, the content is published through Technical Notes, according to the scientific evidence on the subject and the epidemiological scenario, which are monitored daily by the Ministry of Health.
Vaccination coverage
The capital of São Paulo has already applied more than 2.5 million doses against Covid-19. So far 2,380,758 have been applied as a 4th dose. The number represents 58.3% of vaccination coverage of the eligible public.
In addition to São Paulo, Aracaju and Brasília also offer the 4th dose for people between 35 and 39 years old. São Luiz, Vitória, Rio Branco and Maceió offer the 4th dose in people over 30 years old. Teresina and Manaus apply the 4th dose to adults over 18 years of age.
