Civil Defense asks energy companies to prepare for storm in SP

The Civil Defense of São Paulo, concerned about the predictions of heavy rains and storms for the weekend, notified electricity companies operating in the state to prepare for possible problems caused by the bad weather forecast for the state from this Friday (18).

The new warning for the possibility of strong storms with winds is valid for the period from Friday (18) to Sunday (20).

The forecast indicates accumulated up to 200 millimeters of rain in some regions, accompanied by gusts of wind that can exceed 60 km/h.

In addition to the notification, Civil Defense called companies to a meeting, scheduled for this Thursday (17), to discuss preparatory measures for climate events.

In an official letter, the chief secretary of the Military House and coordinator of Civil Defense, Colonel Henguel Ricardo Pereira, requested that the companies responsible for distributing electricity present a detailed plan of how they will act in the event of problems in the electrical network, such as power outages. .

Furthermore, the coordinator asks companies to increase the number of service teams to serve the population more quickly. Civil Defense also requested closer contact between the concessionaires and the state government, informing them about the situation of the electricity network and the number of people affected by possible power outages.

Blackout left 3.1 million without electricity

In a press conference this Thursday morning (17), the president of Enel São Paulo, Guilherme Lencastre, informed that around 36 thousand of the company’s customers are still without electricity supply throughout the metropolitan region.

A blackout in the state left 3.1 million people without electricity after heavy rain recorded last Friday (11).
