The Civil Police seized 14 rifles and 68 magazines at a residence in São Leopoldo, metropolitan region of Porto Alegre (RS), this weekend. A man was arrested at the scene.
It is one of the largest seizures of its kind in the state.
The action is part of Operation Unarmed, carried out after two months of investigation. Fourteen rifles were seized, of which 11 are caliber 7.62 and the other three are caliber 5.56.
In addition to the weapons, a 33-year-old man, responsible for hiding and storing the weapons, was arrested at the scene. The accused has an extensive criminal record, including violent crimes such as homicide, robbery with a firearm and crimes linked to drug trafficking.
In the property, most of the weapons were hidden inside the floor, covered with tiles and only accessible through a shed on the ground. There were also barrels ready to hide the rifles on the floor. The residence is in the Boa Vista neighborhood.
