Civil Police launch operation against brothers suspected of trafficking weapons in RS

The Civil Police of Rio Grande do Sul carried out, this Wednesday (10), an operation to combat the illegal trade of ammunition and firearms, trafficking and association with drug trafficking. In the action conducted through the 2nd Drug Trafficking Repression Unit (2nd DIN/DENARC), a 41-year-old man was arrested.

According to the case’s chief of police, Rafael Liedtke, two brothers had been on the radar of the specialized civil police investigations for about two months. The investigation began after a complaint that the two were carrying narcotic substances, ammunition and firearms in the residence.

Due Diligence in Cachoeirinha and Gravataí

After a favorable opinion from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the civil police launched searches in both houses. According to the detective in charge of the case, the operation began in the early hours of the morning, when agents from the 2nd DENARC Police Station surrounded the two residences, located in the cities of Cachoeirinha and Gravataí, in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre.

At the Cachoeirinha residence, a 41-year-old man, with a history of qualified homicide, was arrested for illegal possession of two firearms, in addition to ammunition.

At the scene, agents found two pistols and a restricted revolver. In addition to the weapons, more than R$2,000 in cash and two luxury cars, valued at more than R$350,000, were found. See the images:
