The website of CNN Brazil reached, in August, the mark of 1 billion page views in the year, a growth of 47% compared to the previous period. Also in August, the company broke a record for unique visitors to the website: 40 million people.
The results are part of the combination of a series of actions in the areas of journalism, content, technology and innovation.
Since November last year, journalism at CNN began to encompass – in an even more integrated way – the production of content for digital platforms and TV.
New editorial sections were incorporated into the website, while the technology and innovation area redesigned the digital properties (website and app) and introduced artificial intelligence resources to automate some processes.
“The integration and engagement of the team of journalists with the new multiplatform content strategy of CNN were fundamental to the success of the work”, says Virgilio Abranches, vice president of Journalism, Content and Operations at CNN .
“We did a great job of aligning the entire team, which involved clearly defining goals, improving flows, processes and training. All of this, combined with the quality of the content we produced, led to this impressive result,” he adds.
For Sérgio Maria, Vice President of Digital and Innovation at CNN this is just the beginning of the company’s multiplatform journey.
“Our digital strategy and innovation team took a deep dive into understanding how the newsroom could operate more efficiently and presented paths to better performance,” he says.
“The next steps will be even more promising, as the team continues to work on a structured project that will have developments in the coming months.”
Growth also on YouTube and social networks
In addition to reaching the milestone of 1 billion page views in the first days of August and closing the month with 40 million visitors to the site, other relevant results were achieved.
THE channel CNN Brazil on YouTube surpassed 20 million people, with growth of 43% in live content and 35% in on-demand content.
Other platforms such as Facebook and Tiktokalso showed high growth performances, of 70% and 162%, respectively. Among the content with the greatest impact, interviews with candidates for mayor of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro reverberated strongly on social media.
To complete, the Olympic coverage on the profiles of CNN Sports was successful in terms of metrics and impact. Overall, the profile CNN Sports on Instagram reached more than 11 million people during the Olympic Games.
