T.a long time ago I was lucky enough to meet the singer Giuni Russo. A few years before
dying, Giuni returned to perform in the theater: her voice was intact, beautiful. He owned
an extension that allowed her to fly from lower to higher notes with ease
impressive. She did not like, however, singing her most famous song, A Summer at the Sea.
Instead, he loved Mediterranea, a ballad that has everything in its text and arrangement
taste of summer. The desire to leave, the heat, the sea. And the melancholy, the lightness, even
a subtle sense of happiness. The stanzas of Mediterranean recite: Take me to dance or elsewhere /
but take me away from here / through the streets you know / don’t abandon me to my silence / but take me
away from here / on the streets you know.
From this issue and until the end of August, Vanity Fair becomes fortnightly: we will continue to
inform you, entertain you and tell you stories even more in depth, with special characters
and with initiatives that will keep you company throughout the summer, giving you time to read them and to
enjoy them with the necessary calm.
The first chapter of this summer with Vanity Fair has the face of Pierfrancesco Favino, one of the most talented Italian actors, a face that we have chosen to take you away with us, as Giuni Russo sings. After the pandemic and in the midst of a war whose end cannot be seen,
we feel the desire to take you away, away from here, to tell you stories, characters and travels that help you leave behind fears, insecurities and all the heavy baggage that these two years have loaded us with. In the following pages you will find the great escape of two blockbusters that
they come back, Star Wars And Jurassic Park. And again: the story of a couple, Martha and Zoe, who will make you
understand how the glue of love is not sex or everything we think we know about
affections. The glue of love is the ability to grow together. And I can’t forget finally
the story of Lucia, a woman who discovered her destiny in helping young mothers
in difficult conditions.
And now turn the page, let yourself go and come away with us. We’ll get you all out of here
the summer.
