The Special Committee to Combat Covid-19 (CEEC) of Rio de Janeiro recommended this Monday (25) the suspension of the coronavirus vaccine passport in the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
The suggestion was sent to the Municipal Health Department of Rio de Janeiro (SMS-Rio) and must be decided by the city hall.
Specialists took into account the epidemiological scenario of the city, but the recommendation should happen on a temporary basis – monitoring the number of cases and deaths, with the possibility of revocation.
The passport is required in closed environments such as restaurants, cinema and theaters in the city. This is the last health measure still in force.
The non-requirement will be valid after analysis by SMS-Rio, by Mayor Eduardo Paes and publication of a decree in the Official Gazette (DOU).
The city was the first Brazilian capital to remove the mandatory mask in open and closed places.
The CEEC also emphasized the urgency of acquiring new doses of the Pfizer vaccine by the Ministry of Health from the municipality of Rio, so that children and adolescents are immunized.
