The prime minister remains in hospital “in a serious condition” after being shot by a 71-year-old man who, according to local media, is a politically motivated writer. The suspect is charged with “premeditated attempted murder,” Interior Minister Matus Sutai Estok announced. An avalanche of messages on Slovak and foreign websites quickly tried to link the perpetrator to the liberal opposition or Fico's pro-Russian politics.
