COP26 President Alok Sharma has delayed a review of climate talks today, saying delegations need more time to discuss approaching an agreement to conclude the UN climate conference in Glasgow.
After delaying the informal conference report for more than 90 minutes as delegations debated in the room, Sarma said: “I have decided that it would be helpful to allow the discussions to continue for a while longer.”
“It is my intention to complete the work of this conference this afternoon. The conference will be completed and at the end of the day, what has been launched here is a balanced package. Everyone has had the opportunity to express their views.”
The proceedings of the conference will resume at 16:30 Greek time.
