The UN Climate Summit (COP27) began last Sunday (6th) in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, and brings together more than 30,000 delegates from around 200 countries in search of an agreement for actions that can contain global warming. . The meeting is an opportunity for world leaders to reveal how they hope to achieve the goals of reducing emissions of polluting gases.
The event will also be the first foreign engagement of President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), after his victory at the polls on October 30. Lula’s presence in Egypt is seen as a sign of a change in Brazil’s environmental policy starting next year, when the new government takes office.
