Coronavirus: Iran approves Russian Sputnik-Light vaccine

The Iran approved the Russian monosodium vaccine Sputnik-Light against coronavirus, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) announced on Wednesday.

The Sputnik-Light vaccine is the first dose of the Sputnik-V vaccine. Vaccination with Sputnik-Light will enable accelerate the vaccination of the population and to form the collective immunity faster, transmits the ΑΠΕ ΜΠΕ.

Earlier, in January 2021, Iran also approved the vaccine Sputnik-V.

The Sputnik-Light vaccine has been shown to be extremely safe and effective during vaccination in a number of countries, according to RDIF:

  • In particular, data from the Ministry of Health of the province of Buenos Aires in Argentina showed that Sputnik-Light was effective in 78,6 – 83,7% during vaccination of the elderly.
  • In Paraguay , according to data from the country’s Ministry of Health, the effectiveness of the vaccine was 93,5% during mass vaccination.
