Coronavirus – Italy: Nearly 1,400 new coronavirus cases in 24 hours – 13 new deaths

Her Ministry of Health Italy announced on Thursday that another 13 patients had contracted COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, a marginally lower number than the previous 14, while the number of SARS-CoV-2 infections had risen to 1,394, from 1,010 a day earlier, on total of 174,852 tests.

With 127,731 deaths due to the new coronavirus pandemic since it hit the peninsula in February 2020, Italy, with a population of 60 million, is mourning the second heaviest death toll in Europe, after Britain, and the eighth heaviest in the world. More than 4.27 million infections have been confirmed to date.

The number of patients being treated in hospitals with COVID-19, excluding those in intensive care units (ICU), fell to 1,197 yesterday, from 1,234 a day earlier.

In the ICU, 8 patients were admitted, equal to the previous one. The number of patients in the ICU remained unchanged at 180.
