The councilman of Santo Antônio de Jesus (BA), Edivan de Jesus Santos (União Brasil), known as Morão, was arrested on Wednesday (12) for attempted femicide against his companion. According to the Civil Police, the crime occurred two weeks ago.
As determined by CNN the 41 -year -old victim was beaten by hide with a knife and a piece of wood during a discussion.
The man, who was on the run was found in a residence on the island of Boipeba, in the municipality of Cairu, approximately 300 km from Salvador, by teams of the Territorial Police Station of St. Anthony of Jesus. The action was supported by police officers from the 5th Interior Police Coordination.
After the capture, the suspect was sent to Santo Antônio de Jesus, where he underwent an examination of a crime and was interrogated. The suspect follows at the disposal of justice. The case is investigated through the Specialized Center for Women Care (Neam).
In a statement, the Santo Antônio de Jesus City Council reported that it repudiates any and all form of violence, especially against women and stressed that it reaffirms its commitment to dignity, respect and human rights.
“About the fact involving one of the councilors of this house, we inform you that we are following the developments with attention and responsibility. Although the situation is not directly related to the exercise of the mandate, the presidency remains attentive to the progress of the case, ”says the statement.
