The Graduation Committee of the 106th class of the Faculty of Medicine of USP (University of São Paulo) announced, via Instagram, that it closed an agreement, at the beginning of the month, with the company À Formaturas and Grupo Toy to hold a party at the same molds and parameters of the initial project. The graduation party was put on hold after university student Alicia Muller began to be investigated for embezzlement for embezzling R$927,000 from the graduation commission.
On January 17 of this year, the Procon of São Paulo notified the company À Formaturas, hired by the group, and asked for “explanations about the case of embezzlement from the fund of the event”. Subsequently, the company undertook to contact each of the students to offer a graduation party despite the financial deviations.
The group of graduates had been holding a crowdfunding to raise the same amount diverted to be able to carry out the celebration. With the agreement closed, this collection will be closed and the accumulated money will be fully returned to donors.
Students took the opportunity to thank all the support they received and also the donations raised. “We are very grateful to everyone who mobilized to help us and also to the companies that are working at this time”.
They will continue to seek partnerships to carry out the graduation and finalize the announcement with hope: “We are going to have a beautiful party as we always dreamed of”.
The event is scheduled to take place in January 2024.
