COVID-19: European countries reduce leisure activities with closures and new restrictions

The European Commission proposed to provide more than 132 million euros to Germany, Ireland, Greece, Spain, Croatia, Hungary and Portugal as an advance payment of the European Union (EU) Solidarity Fund to help with the health emergency caused by the pandemic of COVID-19.

Community sources specified that 16.8 million euros would correspond to Spain.

This endowment is part of a package of aid that amounts to 823 million and will also serve to support reconstruction efforts after the earthquake in Croatia and the floods in Poland.

This support from the fund must have the approval of the European Parliament and the Council.
