CPI-S rises 0.09% in the 2nd quadrissemana of September after falling 0.10% in the 1st reading

The Consumer Price Index – Weekly (IPC-S) rose 0.09% in the second quadrissemana of September, after falling 0.10% in the first reading of the month. The information was released this Friday morning, 16th, by Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV). The indicator accumulates a high of 5.21% in 12 months, higher than the advance of 5.01% in the period until the first measurement.

Of the eight categories of expenses that make up the indicator, four recorded an increase in their rates of change between the second and first four weeks of the month, with emphasis on Education, Reading and Recreation (3.39% to 5.48%). The item with the greatest influence on the group was airfare (18.37% to 30.07%).

Housing (0.05% to 0.16%), Transport (-2.86% to -2.79%) and Communication (-0.84% ​​to -0.66%) were the other groups to show an increase in period. In these classes, the items with the greatest influence were residential electricity tariff (-1.74% to -1.21%), gasoline (-10.03% to -9.61%) and mobile phone tariff (-1, 63% to -0.81%), respectively.

On the other hand, Food (-0.04% to -0.21%), Clothing (0.67% to 0.52%), Health and Personal Care (0.85% to 0.76%) and Miscellaneous Expenses (0.26% to 0.14%) registered a decrease compared to the first four weeks, driven by dairy products (0.10% to -2.47%), men’s clothing (0.67% to 0.04%), hygiene and personal care (1.76% to 1.47%) and cigarettes (1.66% to 1.19%).

Airfare (18.37% to 30.04%), residential rent (1.09% to 1.32%) and health plan and insurance (1.16% to 1.16%) were the items that most pressured up the IPC-S for the second four-week period in September. Onion (6.19% to 9.50%) and soap (4.65% to 5.02%) complete the list.

In the other direction, gasoline (-10.03% to -9.61%), long-life milk (-3.07% to -8.29%) and ethanol (-8.97% to -10.15% ) were the items that most pulled the indicator down, followed by residential electricity tariff (-1.74% to -1.21%) and tomatoes (-8.85% to -6.34%).
