The project team from the decentralized physical infrastructure (DePin) sector Grass presented a checker. But it did not cause much enthusiasm.
Grass, a project aimed at democratizing the Internet announced the launch of the checker the beginning of a “decentralized movement of millions of people around the world reclaiming collective control of the network.” However, the reaction from the crypto community has been the opposite of such eloquent statements.
Why the Crypto Community Is Criticizing Grass
The total emission of GRASS will be 1 billion tokens, of which only 10% will be allocated to reward the community. The distribution is as follows:
- 1.5% for closed alpha testing participants;
- 7% for levels one to seven.
It is noteworthy that the current distribution does not indicate the bonus level and future token distributions.
The developers also introduced the Grass Foundation. This is a non-profit organization that aims to lead the ecosystem along the path of decentralization by distributing resources among key participants. However, the launch of a checker for the upcoming airdrop provoked a wave of negativity from early investors.
Many are disappointed with the amount of tokens allocated to reward the community. Some are even ironic compare such a reward with the Big Mac.
The disappointment is compounded by concerns about token dilution. Hitesh Malviya, a well-known blockchain analyst in the crypto community, notedthat the rapid and dramatic growth of Grass users to 2 million has significantly reduced the value of the airdrop.
This phenomenon is typical for such airdrops, the expert noted. When a huge number of people participate in the distribution, the total pool of tokens is distributed among everyone, which reduces the cost of each token.
Moreover, the community’s discontent is exacerbated by the lack of communication with the project’s creators.
The Grass team has not yet activated the ability to claim GRASS tokens. At the moment, participants can only check how much they can expect. It is worth being careful, because scammers are already trying to profit from this by offering to claim the project’s coins.
Grass has gained attention for its innovative approach to transforming public data into custom data sets suitable for artificial intelligence (AI). The project has received $4.5 million in funding from venture capital firms Polychain Capital and Tribe Capital.
