Two men, in addition to Paulo Cupertino, will be tried starting this Thursday (10), in São Paulo. For different crimes, the suspects were accused of helping in the escape that lasted almost three years.
From 1pm this Thursday, one of the most high-profile crimes of recent years will be tried at the Barra Funda Criminal Forum, in the west zone of the capital of São Paulo. The man accused of shooting to death former Chiquititas actor Rafael Miguel and his parents, João Alcisio and the mother, Miriam Selma Silva Miguel goes to the popular jury.

The trial, which suspended the agenda for this Thursday and Friday (11), will define the future of two other people. They are accused of personal favoritism, for helping Cupertino to escape and hide after the crimes. Eduardo Jose Machado known as Eduardo da Pizzaria, aged 45, and Wanderley Antunes Ribeiro Senhora 59 years old. They face the charges in freedom.
Owner of a pizzeria in the South Zone of São Paulo – the region where Cupertino lived –, Eduardo is accused of helping Cupertino to stay away from investigators. Wanderley lived in Sorocaba, in the interior of São Paulo. He is also accused by the Public Ministry, which alleges evidence that Paulo passed through the city and had his help.
Although they are all in the same trial, Paulo Cupertino, Eduardo Jose Machado and Wanderley Antunes face different crimes. Cupertino, accused of triple homicide, faces up to 90 years in prison. THE CNN tried to locate the defenses of Eduardo Jose and Wanderley Antunes, but was unsuccessful.
About the crime
The crime took place on June 9, 2019. Cupertino managed to escape the authorities for three years, only being captured in May 2022 in an apartment in the south of São Paulo, after going through around 100 addresses in at least three countries – Brazil , Paraguay and Argentina.
According to the complaint from the Public Ministry of São Paulo, Cupertino maintained a possession relationship with his daughter, Isabela Tibecherani Matias and did not accept that the young woman had a relationship with the former actor from the children’s soap opera.

The former actor’s parents, João Alcisio Miguel and Miriam Selma da Silva were murdered in front of their Cupertino house. The actor was also killed. The expert counted at least thirteen shots. They all died at the scene.
