As pointed out in a press release from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Mrs. Michailidou had meetings with the Most Reverend Metropolitan Mr. Ephraim, with whom she discussed extensively the social work carried out by the Diocese and with the Mayor of the island, Georgios Koukoudakis. Afterwards, the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs visited the Port Authority and the Police Department. He was informed about the current issues and discussed the increased staffing needs of the services, especially during the tourist season, but also about the issue of housing for the employees who serve in the security forces on the island. He discussed with the Mayor about possible solutions and initiatives that could be undertaken in this direction, but also about the progress of the works of the Municipal Nursery School under construction within the Shakturei Bequest.

“I listened carefully to the needs of the citizens and local bodies, but also to their concerns for the future. Hydra has huge development prospects and we must provide it with the appropriate development and financial tools,” said Mrs. Michailidou.

In addition, the Deputy Minister also visited the Koulourio Hospital of Hydra. He toured all the premises, referred to the important social work it offers and talked to the medical and nursing staff.

Mrs. Michailidou was also given a tour of the Hydra Museum by the Director, Konstantina Adamopoulou, and the president of DIMTO Hydra, Emmanuel Poulos, and emphasized the value of its archival collection and the work it is doing to save the history of the place.

Finally, the deputy minister attended the classical music charity event, in the context of the “Theomitorika 2022” events, the proceeds of which are allocated every year for the needs of the Koulouri Hospital.

The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Domna Michailidou, stated: “Our immediate goal is to take advantage of the comparative advantages of the Argosaronic islands, in order to improve the daily life of their inhabitants. The equal provision of social services is our duty and obligation. We invest in social structures, emphasizing health and education, we give incentives for new investments and with targeted actions we solve chronic problems”.
