A video showing it went viral on the internet climbers to sleep in scenes hanging on the side of one of the summits they have climbed. Daring climbers are at an altitude of 2,500 meters in the Torres del Paine National Park of Chile.
The video was recorded on February 25 by Siebe Vanhee, a 32-year-old professional climber from Belgium, on the Chilean section of Patagonia, of a region of South America that extends mainly to the southern part of mainland Argentina and a part of Chile. In the video, Vanhee is seen sitting inside one of the two scenes, which are known as portaledges, suspended on ropes which are fastened by the rock of the top, and below… the vast void.
The breathtaking shots show mountainside views and scenes so small they seem to float in space, while the sound of the wind blowing through them can be heard. The video has garnered thousands of likes since it was posted. The caption reads: “Our 5-star hotel in Patagonia”.
