Dead Olympia Dukakis, the Oscar-winning actress for “Bewitched by the moon”

Olympia Dukakis, the stage and film actress known for her performances in films such as Look Who’s Talking and especially Bewitched by the moon, of 1987, with which won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

After many months of illness she is finally at peace and with her Louis, ”wrote Apollo, quoting Dukakis’ late husband, Louis Zorich.

Born in 1931 in Lowell, Massachusetts, the star was the daughter of a Greek-born and American-trained lawyer named Constantine, who died in 1975. Her mother, Alexandra, was also born in Greece and worked in a Massachusetts cotton mill.

Before entering the world of cinema, Dukakis had started her career as a stage actress. In addition to the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, her performance in the film Bewitched by the moon it also earned her a Golden Globe and a BAFTA nomination.

In memory of Olympia Dukakis also expressed herself Cher, who played the daughter of Dukakis in the film directed by Norman Jewison. The 74-year-old singer shared a message on Twitter, accompanied by a photo gallery of Olympia together with her late husband, Louis Zorich.

“Olympia was an amazing Oscar-winning actress,” wrote the singer. “She played my mother in Bewitched by the moon, and even though his share was that of a suffering wife, we laughed all the time!
