Decrees qualify highway and waterway projects under the PPI

The president Jair Bolsonaro issued a decree that qualifies the highway BR-060/153/262/DF/GO/MG under the Investment Partnership Program (PPI).

The Decree is published in the Official Gazette of the Union and the objective is to make a new tender for the concession, currently operated by the Concessionária das Rodovias Centrais do Brasil SA (Concebra). The highway covers the stretch between Brasília (DF) and the municipalities of Fronteira and Betim (MG).

“The primary objective of the Decree is, by qualifying the enterprise, to allow the continuation of the coordinated and friendly return of the stretch granted to the Granting Authority, so that it can be re-issued with a view to attracting possible interested parties in continuing the provision of the road service”, says the General Secretariat in a note released this morning.

Another Decree, also published in this Monday’s DOU (22) qualifies federal public undertakings in the waterway sector under the PPI for inclusion in the National Privatization Program (PND).

The São Gonçalo Channel and the Lagoa Mirim Waterway are being qualified for this purpose, in the stretch between the Sangradouro Channel (Extreme North) to the Access Channel to the Port of Santa Vitória do Palmar (Extreme South), in the State of Rio Great South.

According to the General Secretariat, the objective is “to promote the expansion, modernization and optimization of the Brazilian waterway infrastructure, ensuring reasonableness and publicity of the rates and prices practiced in the sector, the quality of the activity provided and the effectiveness of the rights of users”.
