Twitter is being sued for allegedly failing to pay rent on its San Francisco headquarters building, fueling legal battles between the company and suppliers since Elon Musk acquired the business in 2022.
The owner, SRI Nine Market Square LLC, alleged in the lawsuit that Twitter failed to pay approximately $3.4 million in rent in December and a similarly sized payment in January.
In the complaint filed Friday in San Francisco Superior Court, the landlord said he used Twitter’s letter of credit to try to cover unpaid rent, but that Twitter still owes $3.16 million. .
Other companies have also sued Elon Musk’s company, including a software supplier and a transport company, alleging late payments since the entrepreneur took over the business.
