A delivery man was shot in the head on Thursday night (7) during an attempted robbery in the Todos os Santos neighborhood, in the North zone of Rio de Janeiro. The victim, identified as Thiago Pires, is hospitalized in serious condition.
The action was recorded by the building’s security cameras. In the video, it is possible to see Thiago leaving through the building’s gate, heading towards the motorcycle that is parked on the sidewalk.
Soon after, he is captured by an armed robber and the two get into a fight. A few seconds later, another criminal arrives and the two begin attacking Thiago with butts.
One of the robbers cocks his gun and shoots the delivery man in the head, who falls unconscious near the building’s gate. The criminals escape without taking anything from the victim.
According to information from the Military Police, Thiago was rescued by a team from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) and taken to Salgado Filho Hospital.
The delivery man was later transferred to Miguel Couto Hospital, where he remains in a stable but serious condition.
According to the PM, “teams from the 3rd BPM (Méier) were at the scene of the incident”, but no one was arrested.
In a note, the Civil Police confirms that the case was registered at the 23rd DP (Méier). “The police were at the health unit and are searching for information to identify the perpetrators and clarify the circumstances of the crime,” says the statement.
