Di4ri, the new Netflix series that reminds us how difficult averages are

Have you ever tried to think about how many TV series are dedicated to adolescence? Dozens and dozens, but there are practically none that, instead, speak and address the slightly lower age group, that of middle school. That is until on Netflix did not appear, from 18 May, Di4ria new series in which the protagonists are 12 and 13 year old boys who attend 2D at the Galileo Galilei institute in Marina Piccola in Naples.

Come to think of it: our teenage years were quite turbulent, but those before, at least for me, weren’t a health walk at all. On the contrary, I have never felt so out of place, inadequate and full of insecurities, as in junior high. And Di4ri speaks precisely of this, telling in 15 episodes, the stories of 8 young people, from their own point of view.

There is everything: the first crush (do you still remember yours?), The discovery of one’s sexuality, the coming out, the difficulty of living with parents in crisis and their expectations, dyslexia, the anxiety of growing up , but above all how complicated it is to learn to accept yourself and not to feel alone in this battle.

He knows this subject very well BigMama which, on the occasion of the release of the series, wanted to meet, together with Davide Calabria, Alessia Lanza and Pow3r, the boys of a middle school in Milan to tell about their experience:

«In middle school they told me ‘you suck’ and I believed it. Now I know I’m a crazy pussy. The advice I can give to people in their life who have felt, feel or will feel bad is to find something that motivates them to become better people, as I have done with music.», Said the rapper.

In fact, when she realized she could feel gratified by the music, she decided to start writing and pursue her goal. “The problem of the generation before this is that there were no such reference points: there were no people who spoke to you about reality”, she said again. BigMama which instead, remember how now music, cinema, TV series are much more authentic from this point of view: «Currently you are not at all afraid to put your emotions in a text. I’m not afraid to say in my lyrics that I’m scared of something, upset by something else, or that something is going wrong, because that’s part of my writing. “

And also Di4ri does this: it doesn’t make you feel alone or, to use a metaphor of the series, like an island, who is going through those rather delicate years. Series also recommended for those who are a few years older: you have left behind that rather critical period, but refreshing your memory could help those who are close to you and are experiencing all this.

Feeling understood is, perhaps, one of the most beautiful emotions one can experience.
