The actor Diego Martins 27, told CNN the biggest challenge in playing the musical “Priscilla: Queen of the Desert”, an adaptation of the Australian film of the same name, released in 1994. The artist who became known for playing Kelvin in the soap opera “Terra e Paixão”, gave life to Adam Whiteley who rides as a drag queen Felicia in the musical.
When asked about the main challenge of the piece, he jokes and says “I think everything”. Next, he explains, during the red carpet at the Bibi Ferreira Award : “Priscilla is a very complete musical, there are a lot of things, a lot of clothes, a lot of changes of clothes, a lot of text, a lot of music, a lot of dancing, a lot of high heels, a lot of wigs, taking them off and putting them on.”
In his speech, he also says that the complexity of the musical, which had Reynaldo Gianecchini as the protagonist, is its technical part. “But it’s also the fun part, when you overcome that and say: ‘Wow, I managed to climb that ladder with that jump, I did it!’”.
This Wednesday (30), he competed for the award in the Best Actor in Musicals category, for his performance in the play in question, however, he lost the statuette to Eduardo Sterblitch, actor from “Beetlejuice – The Musical”.
With presentation by the actor Tiago Abravanel the ceremony recognizes the best national theater productions and took place at Teatro Santander, in São Paulo. Check out the list of winners of the 11th edition.
