Diesel and gasoline sales grow in Brazil in October; ethanol drops

Diesel oil sales by Brazilian distributors totaled 5.6 billion liters in October, up around 1% from the same period last year, when they reached 5.54 billion liters, according to the regulator ANP on Tuesday night.

Even in the face of continuous increases in fuel prices in the country, in the wake of oil and dollar gains against the real, the volume of the most traded fuel in Brazil also rose in the monthly comparison.

It was above September’s 5.4 billion liters and close to August’s nearly seven-year monthly high of 5.727 billion liters

In the year, diesel sales accumulate an increase of 8.7%.

Gasoline sales reached 3.58 billion liters, an increase in the annual comparison of about 200 million liters, with fossil fuel more competitive than hydrous ethanol, amid a severe sugarcane crop failure in the center-south of Brazil .

In the year to October, gasoline sales rose more than 10%.

Already the sale of ethanol by distributors retreated 7.6% in the year, plummeting more than 30% in October, to 1.28 billion liters.

Sales of all fuels in October totaled 12.38 billion liters, compared to 12.45 billion liters in the same month in 2020. In the accumulated result for the year, they increased by 7.2%.
