Diesel starts year with an uptrend, says Ticket Log

The average price of diesel at gas stations in Brazil rose 0.19% from the beginning of the year to last Thursday, to 5.623 reais per liter, according to a survey carried out by Ticket Log released this Friday, which also pointed to a high.

In comparison with January 2021, the increase exceeds 40%, showed the Ticket Log Price Index (IPTL) of Ticket Log, Edenred Brasil’s fleet management and mobility solutions brand.

Already the diesel S-10 had a high of 0.24% this year so far, to 5,689 reais per liter.

In a note, the Head of Urban Market at Edenred Brasil, Douglas Pina, highlighted that “2021 ended with diesel in stability, but 2022 is already starting with a change of scenario and high alerts”.

Last Wednesday, Petrobras raised diesel prices at refineries by 8%, while gasoline sold to distributors had an average increase of 4.85%. The adjustment was the first increase in 77 days, according to the company.

In the analysis by region, almost all showed an upward trend or stability in prices in relation to last December.

With a decline of only 0.17% in the value of common diesel and 0.05% in the S-10, the North continues to lead the ranking of the highest prices, at 5.826 reais and 5.889 reais, respectively.

The South is still the region with the lowest prices for fuel. Even with the largest increases, 0.71% for common diesel and 0.91% for the S-10, southern pumps sold these fuels at 5,234 reais and 5,295 reais, respectively.

The survey is based on supplies made at Ticket Log’s 21,000 service stations.
