New Dashboard, App Timer and Wind Down features in Digital Wellbeing technology are designed to help Android Pie users stay focused on their lives and achieve the wellbeing they want.
Dashboard will show you how much time you’ve spent on apps, how many times you’ve unlocked your smartphone, and how many notifications you’ve received since then. With the support of developers, the user will be able to find out everything he did in the applications. For example, YouTube will provide the total time spent watching the video.
App Timer will allow you to set time limits on the use of applications. After the timer (15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour or a specified time) ends, the application will close and its icon will turn gray for the rest of the day. Google believes this feature will bring users back to their life goals and minimize app addiction.
Wind Down Mode will switch the screen to grayscale when it’s time to sleep. For example, if you tell Google Assistant that you’re going to go to bed at 10:00 pm, Android 9.0 Pie will automatically activate the feature by that time. Also, along with Wind Down, the Do Not Disturb mode has been updated, which turns off sounds, notifications and vibration – now it can be turned on with a gesture of turning the smartphone upside down.
