The Government of Minas Gerais commented on the acts of violence that occurred on the day of the Copa do Brasil final played between Atlético-MG and Flamengo at Arena MRV, in Belo Horizonte, last Sunday (10). According to the ministry, each of those involved will be held responsible.
The state Executive requested images from the site’s security camera circuit to identify and punish the criminals responsible for the episodes of violence recorded at the stadium, this Monday (11).
“All crimes detected, especially those that put the lives of third parties at risk, such as throwing bombs inside the stadium, will be identified individually and punished to the fullest extent of the law”, stated the government in a statement.
On the occasion, 12 people were arrested inside the stadium in action by the Military Police Shock Battalion, which was called by the management of Arena MRV, after the acts of vandalism began.
According to the PM, three men aged 32, 35 and 37 were taken, interviewed and arrested for serious bodily injury.
The vice-governor of Minas Gerais, Mateus Simões, stated that all those responsible for the attacks that took place on property and directly against people over the last 48 hours in Belo Horizonte will be identified and arrested.
“Those responsible for throwing that bomb that exploded and injured a cameraman will be identified. We have hundreds of cameras inside the stadium working, with a facial recognition system and these people will not only be prosecuted, but will also be arrested”, added Simões.
