Dona Onete will parade through Grande Rio in 2025; The singer’s music inspired the plot

THE Grande Rio Academics confirmed, on Monday (11), that the singer Dona Onete 85, will be present in the association’s parade at Carnival in 2025 . The Baixada Fluminense samba school will take a plot inspired by the song “Quatro Cantos”, from Pará, to Sapucaí next year.

“Welcome, Dona Onete. Grande Rio is also your home. Sapucaí awaits us!” wrote Grande Rio in the caption of the publication that carried the announcement.

The singer thanked the Duque de Caxias school for the honor and invitation: “I’m very excited, guys! Thank you for this very special invitation!”

Carnival artists Gabriel Haddad and Leonardo Bora will sign the parade that will have the plot “Pororocas parawaras: the waters of my charms in the curimbós accounts”. The tricolor association’s proposal is based on the song “Quatro Contas”, by Dona Onete, to talk about the enchanted entities that live in the pororocas, where the waters of the river meet the sea.

The school promises to delve into the universe of Carimbó to tell the story of Mariana, Jarina and Herondina, the Beautiful Turks; and Cabocla Jurema, who, as the association wrote in the advertisement, “personifies the forest itself”. Listen to Grande Rio’s samba-enredo for 2025 here.

The 2022 Carnival champion will be the third group to parade on Carnival Tuesday (March 4), the date on which Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel, Paraíso do Tuiuti and Portela will also pass through Sapucaí.
