“Donald Trump is unfit to lead,” says The New York Times editorial

With its eyes on Joe Biden’s candidacy and questions about whether the President of the United States is fit to run for president, the American newspaper The New York Times published an editorial against Donald Trump this Thursday (11).

In a lengthy report, the NYT called the former president “dangerous,” “selfish” and a “terrifying choice.”

The article, written by a group of independent journalists, says Trump is unfit to lead the United States. “Mr. Trump has shown a character unworthy of the responsibilities of the presidency. He has demonstrated a total lack of respect for the Constitution, the rule of law and the American people. (…) He is, quite simply, unfit to lead,” the newspaper said.

The editorial criticizes the Republican Party for choosing the candidate and says that members of the political group ignore concerns about Trump due to his proposals regarding immigration and taxes.

“The party’s conception of these values has been reflected in its longstanding conservative policy agenda, and today many Republicans are putting aside their concerns about Mr. Trump because of his positions on immigration, trade and taxes,” the editorial states.

The American newspaper is emphatic and said that Trump is incompetent, dishonest, cruel and corrupt.

In the end, the NYT asks voters to think carefully about their choice for the next president of the United States.

“Election Day is less than four months away. The case against Mr. Trump is extensive, and this Council urges Americans to perform a simple act of civic duty in an election year: listen to what Mr. Trump is saying, pay attention to what he has done as president, and understand what he has promised to do if he returns to office,” he concluded.

The New York Times also published editorials against Democratic candidate Joe Biden, calling for him to withdraw from the electoral race.

An opinion piece written by actor George Clooney, a major donor to the Democratic Party, also called for the Democrat to drop out of the November race.
