The Disney Channel actress and part of the cast of the long-awaited series of The Powerpuff Girls, Dove Cameron, decided to publicly announce and share with his followers that he is bisexual.
During an interview with the magazine Gay Times, the singer also spoke about the fear she felt when speaking openly about her sexuality and how the courage of other celebrities inspired her to take the next step.
I’ve been hinting at my sexuality for years, but I was afraid to tell everyone. I was never confused about who she was, but I always felt that she would not be accepted. I had the strange idea that no one would believe me.
According to the 25-year-old, after seeing stars like Kristen Stewart and Cara Delevingne being so clear and authentic about who they were, she began to question whether or not it would be better to do the same.
I feel like the industry has changed a lot in terms of giving everyone opportunities, no matter who they are, and giving them the space to be human without trying to tear them apart. I was very nervous about doing it, but one day I just accepted it because I realized that I was behaving like someone openly bisexual without actually doing it.
In August 2020, Cameron was encouraged to confess his sexuality with his fans during a live broadcast on his Instagram account, and since then he hopes that this has inspired his followers to do the same, to live fully as they are and not to judge others for their sexuality.
