Drake Bell pleads guilty and could go to jail

In August 2020, Melissa Lingafelt, ex-girlfriend of the famous singer and actor Drake Bell, posted a video on her TikTok account in which she revealed all the details of their relationship. Melissa said that it was one of the worst situations she had to experience, as she suffered physical and verbal violence from the actor. The singer denied all the allegations during an interview and Melissa did not file a complaint with the authorities.

But a new accusation came against him, and this Wednesday, June 23, 2021, Jared Drake Bell, 34, originally from West Hollywood, California, pleaded guilty to a serious crime, which is not related to his ex-partner but which it likewise involves a girl he met online.

The singer was arrested in Cleveland, Ohio on June 4 after being accused of putting a minor at risk. Only five days later he pleaded not guilty and posted a bond of $ 2,500 to regain his freedom. No one knew where he was, but a tweet hinted that he arrived in Mexico City “fleeing” from his legal obligations.

However, justice caught up with him once again, as he was obliged to attend a court hearing on June 23, a date that had been estimated to continue his legal process and thus determine the charges against which he had been accused.

The day finally arrived and through a Zoom session, the hearing was held in which the singer pleaded guilty to the charges of endangering a minor and the crime of disseminating material harmful to young people. According to information from the TMZ portal, it will not be until July 12 that he will receive a sentence in Cleveland.

Defense attorney Ian Friedman said he could not comment on the case and would have to wait until the new hearing to learn the reasons that led Drake to plead guilty.

According to the report, the singer could receive 18 months in prison and a fine as compensation for damages. As for the victim, who is now of legal age, he will be allowed to make a statement during the sentencing hearing.
