Dream Job: Get paid to test apps and websites

AND AppQuality, the startup developer of a method that, through the involvement of consumers, allows you to test websites, e-commerce platforms or applications, so as to get them into the hands of the end customer without bugs or defects. And this is how new candidates are sought for the role of tester, for which they will receive financial compensation. A dream job for many.

«AppQuality was born from an idea developed within MobileLab, research center on the most advanced mobile technologies of the Politecnico di Milano, by the three founders: Luca Manara, current CEO, Edoardo Vannutelli, Quality Leader & QA e Filippo Renga, professor of Polimi. Among the more than 100 companies that have chosen to rely on us we find Costa Cruises, Decathlon, Enel, Lottomatica, Pirelli and Braun “he explains Lorenzo CapecchiChief Community Officer of the startup, «The user signs up on the platform and is trained through a free course and a training campaign. Once you have passed the training phase and chosen the type of campaigns in which you want to participate, such as search for bugs or evaluation of the user experience, you will start receiving invitations to apply for projects. Once the job is completed, he will receive the compensation and experience points which will serve to make him select more often. However, we do not have an average user in the community of testers, nor can we define how the “perfect” tester must be, on the contrary, we try to cover a very wide range of features and cases, diversifying the ages, interests, origin, language, education. This is because within our Crowd we have to find the average customer, or buyer persona, of the companies that come to us “.

In fact, no particular qualifications or requirements are required to be able to obtain the assignment as a tester: to register it is necessary specify only the name, surname, an e-mail address, state of residence and date of birth. Once the registration is completed, additional information can be provided, such as the services to which you have subscribed or any IT skills or certifications, and proceed with completing the profile. There is no deadline within which to register as, based on need, it will be the team of recruitment to draw on the list of applications received and select the most suitable testers. As regards the remuneration, however, this would vary according to the campaign and the activities that will be carried out, however, it is Capecchi who explains: “There is no starting fee because the activities are very varied, and consequently also the remuneration that adapts to the effort required. In general they can be paid based on the number of errors found or severity. Then there are projects in which the user experience is analyzed, where it usually starts at around 20 euros, up to cyber security in which the remuneration can be in the hundreds or even thousands of euros “.

No special tools are needed: common smartphones, tablets or computers and a stable and fast internet connection would be more than enough to do the job correctly.

To date, in Italy alone there are over 30 thousand active testers: if you liked the idea of getting a fee to test e-commerce sites or smartphone applications before launch, there is nothing left to do but apply directly from this page.
