Driver in Mexico receives applause for going on the air with her baby in her arms

For decades, they have been fighting for better treatment for women who are mothers and, at the same time, work, which is already very common. Although they face very different challenges than working dads, the millions of mothers who are also part of the workforce manage to emerge victorious in both aspects of their lives.

In recent days, a news anchor in Yucatan, Mexico, made history by becoming the first communicator in the country to go on air with her baby in her arms.

Yazmín Novelo explained on social networks that things had gotten complicated that day, since her nanny could not go to work and her husband was sick, so there was no one to take care of her little girl while she worked. So, with no other option available, she talked to her managers, who had no problem letting her go out on the air carrying her baby.

This action came as a surprise to many people, as unfortunately this kind of support for working moms is not yet the norm.

We must demand more inclusion

Yazmín thanked the audience and the television station for having behaved in such an understanding manner and expressed her pride in belonging to a company that does more than is necessary to support the women who work there. He hopes actions like this will eventually culminate in an environment where workplace motherhood is normal.

I thank the directors of Channel 13 and their understanding, I am proud to belong to this company and I believe that our followers and viewers also recognized what that small action meant. I thank you and I know that you will continue to demand more inclusion and that this small event will one day be normal.
