DTS and Hisense enter into partnership agreement

Xperi, the DTS-branded audio technology company, has announced a partnership agreement between DTS and Hisense. It will enable Hisense to design and manufacture DTS Play-Fi enabled products. Hisense plans to start shipping them in the second half of the year.

Recall that the DTS Play-Fi Wireless System supports surround sound playback, audio streaming to TVs throughout the home, Hi-Res (24-bit / 192kHz) playback, synchronized audio playback in all rooms, and wireless headphone connectivity. At the same time, Play-Fi uses standard Wi-Fi networks, eliminating the need to integrate additional hardware into the devices being developed. In addition, it is possible to provide interesting functions to products of various price segments.

This provides the broadest support for a variety of streaming protocols, ”explained Hisense’s decision to join the DTS Play-Fi ecosystem, Youbo Li, Deputy Vice President of Hisense International. “With Play-Fi wireless surround sound technology, Hisense users can take full advantage of the wireless home theater and whole-home audio experience in one solution.”

Those who have joined the DTS Play-Fi ecosystem before include Audiolab, Integra, Klipsch, Mission, Onkyo, Philips, Pioneer, Polk Audio, Porsche Design, Rotel, Wharfedale and others. The selection of DTS Play-Fi enabled devices includes hundreds of speakers, televisions, soundbars, set-top boxes and A / V receivers.
