The higher your expectations, the more likely you are to be disappointed. Well, when we opened the box of the new expectations were also “extra”. After all, it is the top of the range of one of the top brands when it comes to house cleaning. A vacuum cleaner without bag, without thread, but which promises 20% more suction power than the previous model. Let’s see how it went.
Opening the package – a heavy and rather bulky cardboard box – we find many many components.
The typical discouragement of the lazy and insecure takes us: it will take a degree and a lot of time to understand how it works. And here we make the first error of assessment. Although the printed instructions are minimal (and here was another moment of panic) when we spot the digital manual on the site everything becomes downhill. In fact, for each topic and for each single part of the vacuum cleaner, in addition to the written instructions, there is an explanatory and exhaustive mini video.

Let’s start with the basics: extract the long tube and connect it to the aspirator body which is located at the top and is composed of the motor, the battery and the dust tank.
The vacuum cleaner is lightweight and has a very modern look, thanks also to the perfect combination of colors: electric blue, purple and silver.
We mount the brush first High Torque con Dynamic Load Sensor (DLS). Graceful in aesthetics and pleasant to the touch, it actually proves tough: thanks to its integrated motor and the DLS system it is able to recognize the type of floor it is working on and adapts itself by changing the suction power, depending on whether the cleaning takes place on carpets or rugs or floors.
To start the Dyson simply press and hold the “trigger”. When you leave it the vacuum cleaner turns off immediately so minimize battery waste. Every time we do it it emits a particular noise, almost a nice snort that tempts us to indulge it and turn it back on. In short, we begin to think that doing housework can be almost fun.
But also fast, thanks to the improved digital engine, the flagship of this model. It is a Dyson Hyperdymium, which reaches 125,000 revolutions per minute. It has a triple diffuser that optimizes the balance between power and performance, but reducing turbulence and noise. The increased engine efficiency generates 20% more suction power than the previous model.
Also in the upper part of the product is one LCD screen which, in addition to other information, shows the cleaning time still available. In total, the autonomy is 120 minutes: in fact, in the package there are two batteries that ensure an hour of suction each.
Although the High Torque is practically a brush “universal”, there are still so many pieces to try in the box of the «Pro» version, the most complete.
Before buying the vacuum cleaner you can check the composition of the various versions on the website, in order to choose the one that best suits your needs. In a short time we try all the brushes, also because changing them turns out to be a very fast and easy operation.
Another basic brush is that soft roller, suitable for parquet and hard floors. Then there are (and if not included in the package, they can be purchased later) the mattress brush, for cleaning stairs, carpets and curtains; the delicate mini brush, to remove dust from delicate areas; the stubborn dirt brush, to remove dirt from carpet fibers; the Mini turbo brush, to remove hair and stubborn dirt in the smallest spaces; the quick coupling crevice tool, to reach even narrower points.
Aspiration without comparison with each of them. But what amazes us most is there easy handling and ease of use. And this as a result of two “shortcomings”: in fact, what makes us much freer to aspire how and where we want is that it is a machine without bag and without thread.
The first is a feature introduced for the first time by Dyson and, in addition to cutting costs in the long term, it makes life easier for us immediately: once the cylinder is full (which is transparent and therefore easier to keep an eye on) it is opened with a single move, by acting on a lever, and it is emptied directly into the waste bin, without having to touch the dirt with your hands. The container, however, is quite large and it is not necessary to empty it too often if you are doing a normal daily cleaning. When deemed necessary, it can also be washed under tap water.
Furthermore, we said, the V11 Extra is wireless and, while this feature may not seem essential when it comes to cleaning the floor of a home, it becomes so when it comes to reaching narrow spaces or the interior of a car. Without the constraint of the electric socket and with the right nozzle it was very convenient to thoroughly clean every point of the passenger compartment of our car.
After a lot of work, it’s time to put the Dyson to rest (and charge). We extract from the package the wall hook and the platform, but – for now – we opt for the latter.
It is in fact a gadget that makes the leap ermakes the vacuum cleaner (already beautiful in itself) into a real design object to be exhibited. The elegant and sturdy bracket keeps it slightly suspended from the ground and in an upright position. We are ready to bet that no one will want to hide it in a closet!
