Turkey’s state defense industry STM has developed the DAR radar system, which sees through walls and can spot people in piles of rubble after the killers earthquakes in the neighboring country.
STM’s top technician Yusuf Hayirli told state-run Turkish news agency Anadolu that the DAR radar system, designed by the defense industry, is being used for the first time in an earthquake-hit zone, APE-MPE reports.

“We help teams identify people based on breathing and hand movements“, said Hagirli. According to Anadolu, the teams have pulled out alive from collapsed buildings, at least 20 victims of the earthquake thanks to the coordinates given by the DAR radar system. “We witnessed the rescue of a 7-month-old baby who was trapped under the debris. This joy is indescribable”, Hagirli added.

STM has sent all the Wall Arc Radar (DAR) systems in its warehouses to the relevant units of the Ministry of the Interior.
