The former president of Embratur and founder of the Brazilian Association of Airlines (Abear), Eduardo Sanovicz, died this Saturday (2), at the age of 63, in Santos.
Eduardo served as president of Embratur between January 2003 and August 2006, during the first government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
In April 2012, he was one of the founders of the Associação Brasileira das Empresas Aéreas, in which he was president for 11 years, until April of this year, when he took office, in May 2023, as Executive Presidency of the Board of Abear.
In addition, he worked for four years as Director of Tourism at Santos City Hall, between January 1993 and December 1996.
Graduated in History from the University of São Paulo (USP) in 1984, Sanovicz obtained a master’s and doctorate in Communication Sciences, also from USP. At university, he served as a professor in the Leisure and Tourism course at the School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities, for over 15 years.
“Embratur regrets the death of the Agency’s former president, Eduardo Sanovicz. Edu, as he was known by his friends and his team, was at the head of Embratur from 2003 to 2006. A master for a generation of tourism workers, Sanovicz always knew how to share his knowledge and build collectively. His work teams were real teams, they played together. In love with Santos, his hometown, he was a fan of Peixe and loved the beaches. It was there that he chose to return in the last month of his life”, said Embratur in a statement.
Abear also spoke out, mourning Sanovicz’s death and wishing condolences to friends and family.
“It is with deep regret that the Associação Brasileira das Empresas Aéreas (Abear) announces the death of Eduardo Sanovicz, one of the founders of the entity, where he held the position of president from 2012 until May 2023, when he became president- executive of the institution’s Deliberative Council. Abear expresses its feelings to family and friends”.
