eEFKA: The electronic transfer of supplementary pension, due to death, is in operation

The electronic transfer of the supplementary pension due to the death of a pensioner was put into operation, which allows the issuance of the supplementary pension within two months.

According to an e-EFKA announcement, “this new electronic process comes to address another issue of bureaucracy and many months of delays that plagued citizens at a difficult time for them, after the loss of their loved ones.

The new service is expected to facilitate a significant number of citizens. “Indicatively, in the last 12 months, the total number of applications submitted for the transfer of a supplementary pension due to death has exceeded 20,000”.

The beneficiaries of the transfer can now submit the request electronically and the obligation to visit the services of e-EFKA is abolished. If required, the competent service structure will contact the applicant on a case-by-case basis for any deficiencies found.

Once the main pension has been issued, which is a prerequisite for the issuance of the supplementary pension, the waiting time for the granting of the supplementary pension due to the death of a pensioner is limited to two months.

The electronic transfer of supplementary pension, due to death, starts today to cover all the former funds of the private sector and, in the next period of time, the public sector will also join. Most of the supporting documents, such as, for example, a certificate of closest relatives, death certificate, etc., are obtained through interoperability with the Citizens’ Registry and other public sector bodies.

For the access to the electronic service “application for transfer of supplementary pension, due to death” the user enters either through the Single Digital Portal gov.gr or through the website of e-EFKA (www.efka.gov.gr) and follows the route: Online services => Retirees => online application for retirement.

As it is pointed out in the announcement, in 2021, 17 electronic services, platforms and software were put into operation by e-EFKA, which facilitate the daily life of both the employees and the employees of the Organization. Every month, more than 1.2 million electronic transactions are made through the 52 electronic services that are accessible from the e-EFKA website and the single web portal of the State gov.gr.

“In the next period, additional electronic services will be announced, which automate all the actions required for the issuance of supplementary pensions,” explains e-EFKA.
