Eight people were killed and six injured today when an armed student opened fire inside a university in the Russian city of Perm, according to the Russian Investigative Committee.
The gunman was killed by authorities as he resisted an attempt to arrest him, the university’s press office told Reuters.
Perm State University is located 1,300 kilometers east of Moscow.
From visual material presented by the local media, students are seen jumping from the windows of the first floor of the building and running to escape from the gunman.
According to the Russian Commission of Inquiry, which handles investigations into major crimes, the gunman was a student at the university.
