Elon Musk’s The Boring Company this week began testing its LVCC Loop underground tunnels under the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Numerous videos and photographs from people who have already been able to drive through the tunnel have appeared on the web. More precisely, we are talking about two one-way tunnels with a duration of 1.2 km.
The tunnels are located at a depth of about 10 meters. Several dozen Tesla vehicles were used for the tests, including Model 3, as well as Model Y and Model X. The Boring Company said the tunnels turn a 45-minute walk into a two-minute ride.
In one of the test races, a speed record was set, which was 185 km / h. At the time of the official launch, the speed will be limited to 240 km / h.
The company says it wants to eventually transport 4,400 people per hour through the LVCC Loop tunnels, although some believe it will eventually only transport 1,200 people per hour. The Boring Company wants to build a massive tunnel system that will run under the entire city, with a capacity of 50,000 people per hour.
