The owner of company X (formerly Twitter), Elon Musk, said that the social network may become paid. He reported this in conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Musk explained that introducing a monthly payment is necessary to solve the problem of bots on the platform. He did not specify its cost, but added that it was a “small amount.”
In addition, Musk noted that X has 550 million monthly users who create 100 to 200 million messages daily. However, it is unknown whether these figures include bots that distribute spam. He also did not give an exact date for the introduction of payment for the use of X.
The company already offers a paid product, X Premium, for $8 per month. The number of subscribers to the premium platform has not been disclosed, but research shows that only 827,615 users have subscribed to X Premium.
