Emily Carey, star of “House of the Dragon”, deletes Twitter account

Emily Carey is 19 years old and says he loves social media.

But being a teenager on apps is different when you’re on “The Dragon House” and her comments about her role cause a backlash.

Emily Carey spoke to News.com.au about what happened after some comments she made about her character, a younger version of Alicent Hightower.

During an appearance at Comic-Con, she explained how she came up with Alicent’s backstory and expressed, “I’ve never had the freedom to create a whole human being like this before. So it was really fun to be able to go that deep with her.”

“I find her so multifaceted. There are so many layers to her,” Carey said. “I think a lot of people are already expecting her to be the villain of the show, but I think bringing her younger, there was so much more to explore.”

Some fans of George RR Martin’s novel Fire & Blood, on which the series is based, disagreed with Carey’s characterization of the young woman she plays.

“I’m 19, and I’ve been on social media since I was a kid because I’ve been working since I was a kid, so I’m very aware of things… Any hate that comes in, it’s just… A person behind a screen,” she told the publication. “You just have to move on from it.”

“But I will say that I deleted Twitter [depois da Comic-Con] because it’s too loud,” added Carey. “Even when it’s good, there are so many people and it’s so loud.”

“House of the Dragon” premiered on Sunday (21) to about 10 million viewers, making it “the highest ratings for any new original series in HBO history,” according to the network.
