The seismic survey conducted in an exemplary manner in six, in total, Municipalities of Epirus in 2019 gave positive indications for the location of a deposit in the prefecture of Ioannina, which of course should be confirmed by the research drilling.

Block 2 in the Ionian

At the same time, Energean is preparing for a seismic survey of the Marine concession of Block 2, northwest of Corfu, which is scheduled to take place by the end of the year.

This will be the fourth seismic survey in the sea area of Greece that the company will carry out from 2009 onwards and the exemplary execution of the previous surveys is a guarantee that this new operation will be carried out without any environmental problems or any inconvenience. any other activity in the area.

M. Rigas: We are proceeding with the first drilling in Greece after more than 20 years

At the end of the meeting, the CEO of the Energean group Mr. Mathios Rigas stated the following:

“Energean, as the only company that produces hydrocarbons in Greece, has expanded, as the Prime Minister said, to eight countries and has a very important reason in the development of hydrocarbons throughout the Eastern Mediterranean. So we could not, we are missing from this invitation to explore and develop deposits in the Greek subsoil.

Today we are pleased to announce that we are proceeding with the first drilling that will take place in Greece after more than 20 years, in the area of Epirus in the prefecture of Ioannina, away from the particularly environmentally sensitive areas, and I would like to send a message to all local communities to see the example of Prinos. Prinos has been producing oil and gas for 41 years now without burdening the area in perfect harmony with the local tourism industry, fisheries and the local communities as a whole.

We have to find what the Greek subsoil has, we are committed to do the necessary research and drilling, while it is important that the companies that are active have the know-how and the competence to perform such projects. Energean currently drills 5 in the deep waters of Israel, which is the largest drilling project in the Eastern Mediterranean. We are investing a total of 3 billion euros in the wider region and obviously it is our priority to develop every possibility that our country has to acquire its own natural gas. We will be by the side of any initiative of the Greek government and obviously we will be by the side of the local communities to ensure that as a company, as Greeks, we will proceed with the development with respect for the environment and the areas in which we operate “.
