Environmental actions by the TITAN Group and the Paul and Alexandra Kanellopoulou Foundation

A multi-level action plan, totaling 1 million euros, was presented today by the Pavlos and Alexandra Kanellopoulou Foundation and the TITAN Group as part of their national effort to rehabilitate fire-affected areas and plan prevention actions for the future.

The presentation took place at the TITAN factory in Kamari, Boeotia, in the presence of the Minister of Environment & Energy, Mr. Costas Skrekas, the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Mr. Christos Stylianidis, the Secretary General of Forests, Mr. Konstantinos Aravonis and Mr. Forest Environment, Mr. Evangelos Goudoufas, who were welcomed by Ms. Alexandra Papalexopoulou, Vice President of the Executive Committee of the TITAN Group and Mr. Nellos Kanellopoulos, President of the Pavlos Foundation and Alexandra Kanellopoulou. The presentation was also attended by Mr. Konstantinos Kartalis, Professor of the Department of Physical Environment, EKPA and Mr. Efthymios Lekkas, Professor of the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment, EKPA, as well as Ms. Alexia Nikiforaki, Vice President of the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature , who described the work they have undertaken under the action plan. At the same time, part of the mobile equipment delivered to the fire brigade was presented.

The Pavlos and Alexandras Kanellopoulou Foundation and the TITAN Group, due to the widespread fires that hit the country in the summer of 2021, were formed to support in a targeted and effective way the collective effort for a sustainable future.

As a result, the P. & A Foundation. Kanellopoulou implements the following actions:

-Contribution to the Reconstruction Program of Northern Evia.

-Provision of 2 special vehicles of Firefighting and Civil Protection for the Region of Central Macedonia.

Elaboration and execution of an educational program for informing and sensitizing the citizens for the prevention of fires, in collaboration with the EEPF.

At the same time, TITAN, in close and direct cooperation with the local authorities and the competent bodies in all the areas adjacent to its activities, is already proceeding with:

Disposal of a total of 50 silo vehicles, which have been converted into water tanks with a capacity of 30 sq.m. each, for the supply of firefighting vehicles in the Regions of Attica (specifically Western Attica), Western Greece, Central Macedonia, Crete and Central Greece.

-3 open water tanks with a capacity of 40 sq.m. each to facilitate the rapid supply of firefighting helicopters (these tanks are placed in the company’s quarry facilities in the Regions of Western Greece, Central Macedonia, Central Greece).

-Climatic risk assessment studies in neighboring areas of the factories Drepanos, Efkarpia, Kamari, in collaboration with EKPA and the National Observatory of Athens, in order to use the valuable knowledge to properly prepare everyone and avoid similar phenomena in the future.
