Epic Games has spoken out against Apple’s attempts to suspend enforcement of court orders in a well-known antitrust case.
As we previously reported, a US federal court ruled in September that ordered Apple to change the rules for the App Store so that software developers can use links to payments in applications bypassing the App Store. This decision should take effect on December 9th. However, Apple found a way to delay the implementation of the unprofitable order for years. To do this, the company told the court that it plans to appeal the order and asked the court to suspend its execution pending the consideration of appeals.
According to Epic, Apple did not meet the required requirements when submitting the request. An Epic spokesman in court demanded that Apple show that even temporary compliance with the order would cause irreparable damage if it is subsequently overturned after an appeal.
Apple’s court hearing is scheduled for November 9th.
