Erdogan: Further joint steps in defense industry under consideration with Russia

The Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that the Turkey examines further common steps in the defense industry with Russia in areas such as aircraft engines, fighter jets and submarines, after meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, broadcast today, Thursday (30/09) NTV.

According to the APE-MPE, on the plane with which he returned to Turkey, Erdogan told reporters that during the meeting with Putin he proposed that Turkey work with Russia to build two nuclear power plants, NTV reported.

Erdogan met with Putin in Sochi on Wednesday. He also reportedly said Russia had offered to work together to develop rocket launchers in space.

Erdogan has said he will hold talks with the US president Joe Biden at the end of October in Rome and possibly later in Glasgow and that they will discuss military, political and trade issues, NTV reported.

“This means that some steps are being taken, which is a good omen,” he said of US relations.
