The Ethereum Classic (ETC) network will be updated around July 21st. The update, dubbed Magneto, will take place at block 13 189 133.
According to the official statement from the Ethereum Classic team, the Magneto update will include ECIP-1103 at the same time as the Ethereum Berlin update.
The latest update to the Ethereum mainnet was launched at the end of April and consisted of several blockchain improvement proposals that optimized gas fees and implemented security improvements. The four EIPs implemented during the Berlin update will become available in Ethereum Classic.
EIP 2565 – reduces the cost of precompiling ModExp (0x00..05);
EIP 2929 – Increases gas cost for SLOAD, * CALL, BALANCE, EXT * and SELFEDESTRUCT when first used in a transaction;
EIP 2718 – introduces a new type of transaction – an envelope, simplifying the support of several types of transactions;
EIP 2930 – Adds a Transaction Type that contains a list of transaction storage addresses and keys that are scheduled to be accessed.
Hence, ECIP 1103 will pave the way for all of the aforementioned Ethereum protocol updates to be added to the Ethereum Classic (ETC) mainnet as well. In addition, ECIP 1103 will provide maximum interoperability between the two networks.
Thus, the Ethereum Classic team has proposed the following blocks, in which these changes will be implemented in both the test and the main version of the network.
Block 3 985 893 in the Mordor Classic PoW test network, estimated date – June 2, 2021.
Block 4368634 in PoA testnet Kotti Classic, estimated date – June 9, 2021.
Block 13 189 133 in the main PoW Ethereum Classic network, estimated date – July 21, 2021.
